Newcastle United are reportedly interested in a loan transfer for Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley in time for the new season later this year. This is according to the publication from the stables of The Athletic. It was revealed that the Magpies want to boost their midfield with the loan signing of Barkley.

Barkley started life at Villa positively netting on his debut. He was one of the players on target as Villa thrashed Liverpool 7-2 at home. He then made it two goals in two games with the winning goal in the 1-0 away victory over FA Cup champions Leicester City. The excellent start to his Villa career was stopped by injury and he didn’t manage to regain that form when he returned to full fitness. He produced several inconsistent displayson the back of his return from injury around the winter time till the end of the season.
The Chelsea loanee missed the last game of the season for Villa due to the terms of his loan agreement. He was missing as Villa ended the just concluded Premier League campaign with a 2-1 victory over Chelsea. Barkley finished the season with three goals in 24 league matches. Villa are not expected to make the loan move for Barkley permanent as he’s expected to return to Chelsea ahead of the new season.
Chelsea have a new manager in Thomas Tucheland the German tactician is expected to run the rule over the England international midfielder during pre-season to decide if he would be part of his team or not.
For now, Steve Bruce and Newcastle United are keen on the former Everton player in time for next season.
