CHELSEA RETURN TO WINNING WAYS

Chelsea have ended their wait for a win thanks to the late win over West London rivals Brentford. The Blues went into the game on the back of a three-match winless run and the Bees were keen on taking it to four games without a win in all competitions but Chelsea had other ideas as they scored twice in five minutes to seal a 2-0 away win and end their winless run. The Blues came into the game with a record of two draws and one loss in three league outings.

After a goalless first half, Chelsea took the lead when Brentford skipper Pontus Jansson scored an own goal with ten minutes left to play. The Blues then doubled their lead five minutes thanks to the spot kick from Jorginho.

The three-match winless run for Chelsea started when West Ham United came from behind twice to seal a 3-2 home win thanks to the late goal from Hammers left-back Arthur Masuaku. West Londoners Chelsea then made it two winless league games with the 1-1 home draw with Everton as the 74th minute strike from JarradBranthwaite cancelled out the 70th minute opener from in-form Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount.

Chelsea then made it three league games without a win with the goalless draw at Wolves. The run of three league games ensured that Chelsea fell six points behind leaders Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title.

While the Premier League title is slipping away from Chelsea, the Carabao Cup title is still within reach and the 2-0 away win over the Bees means that Chelsea will face London rivals Tottenham Hotspur for a place in the final with either Arsenal or Liverpool waiting for them in the final if they manage to see off Spurs in their last four tie.
