CHELSEA CONSIDERING MAKING MOVE FOR ARSENAL FORWARD THIS SUMMER

Chelsea have reportedly been interested in making a move to try to sign Arsenal player Eddie Nketiah, but he’s set to sign a new contract to stay at the Emirates Stadium. According to 90min, Chelsea and Liverpool have both monitored Nketiah as a possible summer target to strengthen their respective squads. West Ham, Newcastle, Everton and Crystal Palace have been potential suitors, too.

The 22-year-old’s Arsenal deal is due to expire in the summer, which is why clubs are circling to snap him up on a free transfer. However, the report states the English centre-forward is now “on the verge” of signing a new contract to stay with the Gunners. Chelsea know all about Nketiah’s talent, especially because he scored twice against the Blues during a Premier League match back in April.

The London-born striker struggled for minutes with Arsenal in the first half of the 2021/22 season, but an excellent impact during the last couple of months appears to have earned him a contract extension. For certain, the youngster is a really exciting talent that’s now looking to kick on and fulfil his potential.

In fairness, Arsenal’s academy at Hale End is coming good for them lately. The likes of Emile Smith Rowe, Bukayo Saka and Nkeitah came through the Gunners ranks, albeit the latter was actually on Chelsea’s books at an even younger age.

The Blues will hope Conor Gallagher, who’s been excellent out on loan with Crystal Palace this season, can be the club’s latest academy graduate to make his mark at Stamford Bridge. Manager Thomas Tuchel has already said he thinks Gallagher can be part of his squad next season. There is currently no sign to show that Nketiah will be joining Chelsea this summer but there is also no confirmation yet that the transfer will not be taking place.
