BRENDA RODGERS TIPPED TO BE LAMPARD’S REPLACEMENT AT CHELSEA

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is currently under intense pressure and has been expected by many to get the sack following a run of poor results that has seen them drop from 1st position to 8th place in the Premier League.

The Blues splashed the cash heavily in the summer on a number of signings including Kai Haverz, Timo Werner, Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell, Hakim Ziyech, and Eduoard Mendy. Their total spending in that window amounted to £220m and many hailed their transfer business, tipping them to win the Premier League afterwards.

However, with the new attackers, including Werner misfiring and underperforming, the club has lost consistency and they have not yet won a single game against the top 6 sides they have faced so far this current campaign.

According to multiple reports, club owner Roman Abramovic is considering dishing out a sack letter to Lampard and recruiting a replacement to guide the club for the second half of the campaign.

Leicester City manager Brenda Rodgers has been touted as the first choice of Abramovic to replace Lampard at the helm. Rodgers already has experience working at Chelsea as he was the Head coach of the academy set up during the first reign of Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge.

However, since that period, Rodgers has gone on to manage the likes of Watford, Reading, Swansea City, Liverpool, Celtic, before taking up the Leicester job he currently holds. Thomas Tuchel, the who was recently laid off by Paris Saint-Germain is also in the list and the second favourite, while RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann comes third on the list.

While some nieve Lampard should face the sack, others feel that he should be given some more time to get his new players adapted to the Premier League.
